PRE HOLIDAY SELFCARE!
The holiday countdown has started along with the midweek parties, outdoor activities, lots of traveling and an even more hectic daily schedule. Fun and exciting yet stressful for your skin at the same time, the holiday season combined with harsh winter weather can take its toll on your skin. And since prevention is the best cure, safeguard your skin with a simple but effective pre-holiday self-care routine! Hint: It includes loads of DIY olive oil masks to make sure you are winter-ready with minimum effort!
Olive Oil Exfoliating Scrub
Start with an uncomplicated Olive Oil Scrub to buff away the build-up of dull skin cells that are making your skin look lifeless. A good scrub made by natural ingredients will ensure that your skin is soft and ready to soak in all the feel-good products that you are going to treat it with as a part of your holiday self-care. Exfoliating is even more important if you are planning to use self-tanning products, so keep that in mind, year-round, not just during the holiday season!
Ingredients
3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
1 tablespoon organic honey
2/3 cup plain sugar
How to
Mix all the ingredients in a sealable jar or container. This way you can safely store and reuse any left-over product for the sake of your waste-not mindset. Stir well to get a grainy paste.
Massage the scrub into your skin in gentle circular motions to exfoliate.
Wash off with warm water and soap. Dab your skin with a clean towel and you are ready to proceed with your skincare!
Soothing Olive Oil Face Mask
That extra glass of party wine and the temperatures dropping in combination with late nights at the office to make sure everything runs smoothly will have you dealing with dehydrated flaky skin before you know it. Prevent that with a soothing mask with hydrating and healing properties for super glowy and supple skin!
Ingredients
¼ cup olive oil
1 egg yolk
1 tablespoon oats
How to
Process all the ingredients in a blender or food processor to get a thick paste. Add more oats if the consistency is not thick enough to apply to your skin.
Apply with a brush or simply your fingers on a clean face and let the mask work its magic for 10-15 minutes.
Wash it off with warm water, soap, and a washcloth or your regular cleanser.
Enjoy a glowy, hydrated skin!
