My family and I really enjoy Kasandrinos olive oil! I love knowing it is organic and actually pure olive oil. Unlike the olive oils I have purchased in the past from the grocery store, this olive oil is a dark color, and actually has some delicious flavor. (It really is unlike any of the store bought stuff, even though they were organic too) It is fresh and delicious. It’s not the cheapest oil, but it’s worth the money! What does extra virgin mean?

Extra virgin is the absolute highest grade for olive oil. EVOO is extracted from fresh olives using a mechanical process without the use of excessive heat or any form of additives or solvents. EVOO has to have less than 0.8% free acidity, produced by the first pressing of the olive fruit.

Ours comes in at 0.27% this harvest.

What does PGI mean?

PGI (Protected Geographical Indication) refers to olive oils with exceptional properties and quality, It demands that the product be produced in the geographical region whose name it bears. In the case of Kasandrinos Extra Virgin Olive oil, that is Laconia, Greece (the region of ancient Sparta)

What are polyphenols and why do they matter?

Polyphenols are natural antioxidants found in fresh, early-harvest extra virgin olive oil. They’re responsible for the bright, peppery finish and help support heart health by protecting the body from oxidative stress. The higher the polyphenols, the more vibrant, stable, and beneficial the oil.

How should I properly store Kasandrinos olive oil?

  • Keep it in a cool, dark place (a pantry or cabinet is ideal).
  • Avoid heat and light — don’t store it near the stove, oven, or in a sunny spot.
  • Always keep the cap tightly closed to prevent oxidation.
  • Store at room temperature (around 60–75°F is best).

Can I cook with Kasandrinos olive oil?

The average smoking point for extra virgin olive oil is 410°F, so that means it's a great choice for all your cooking needs, whether you are deep frying, sautéing or stir frying. It's a personal preference, but we definitely do.

How long does olive oil stay fresh?

Premium Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) can last for a few years because of its high antioxidant properties. However, unlike wine, most olive oils are best used in 24 months, as taste and aromatic characteristics are likely to reduce after that. It will last longer if it’s stored in a dark place away from excess heat. All good oils should clearly state a “best before or expiration” date. We do advise that Olive oil is consumed within 6 months of breaking the seal on the bottle or can for optimum freshness.
